Vienna is a magical place to be for Christmas – particularly if you are able to use the festive period to be able to also hit the ski slopes – with there being resorts open within very easy reach from Vienna. At the same time, if you are spending Christmas in Vienna for the first time, maybe away from family or on your own, the festive period can seem a very lonely time as Austrians celebrate in their families and a lot of the city shuts down on 24th and 25th December.
