Studying in Vienna after Brexit?

What is going to happen about tuition fees?

Questions about studying (at Uni) or learning (at schools) in Vienna.

Studying in Vienna after Brexit?

Post by outta_busan » Tue Jan 22, 2019 3:39 pm

I'm currently looking at trying to do a degree here in addition to working (long story) and was wondering if Brexit could affect my tuition fees. I'm thinking of starting in September (Wintersemester) if possible. Is anything decided on, or it this like nearly everything, still up in the air.

I read that fees are increasing to about eur 780 a semester as Britons will be treated as third country nationals from 30 March.
Vienna is like an Ikea sofa - you know you should upgrade, but why bother when it is this comfortable.

The official page (in German only) on the page of the Austrian Federal Chancellery (Bundeskanzleramt) can be found at

The UK charges about 9k a year now, which is decidedly more.

Work colleague confirmed this is the case too. His brother should have finished last semester but couldn't and is now decidedly not amused.
