Cash payments only up to EUR 1,000 in Italy

Post by morgenhund » Mon Jul 02, 2012 11:30 am

New legislation has come into effect in Italy from 1 July 2012 limiting cash payments to EUR 1,000 - hitherto payments of up to EUR 2,500 could be made in cash. Useful to know for those of you who are buying furnishing in Italy.

Originally reported in the Kleine Zeitung in January - the law has now come into effect:

Vienna is like an Ikea sofa - you know you should upgrade, but why bother when it is this comfortable.

Possibly to stem tax corruption maybe?
Good effort but maybe hard in a country rife with that type of culture

Thanks for the heads up, morgenhund!
